Van-Mahotsav week is celebrated in India between 1st to 7th July. It was initiated by the Union Minister Dr. K. M. Munshi in 1950. Every year afforestation programs help to restore the forest. But with increase in population and other development projects, deforestation is taking place on a large scale.

More efforts are required to increase the forest cover. I n fact, awareness campaigns can play an important role in educating people about significance of trees and indoor plants. Urban population can join or form NGO for tree plantations during this week. Limited scope for tree plantations can be compensated by increasing the green cover of indoor plants and small gardens. Indoor plants provide many benefits.
